Passengers with Illness or Injury

The environment inside an operating aircraft is unique, and it may affect the conditions of your illness or injury. Please consult your physician to confirm if you are fit to travel by air.
Depending on your health condition, we may not permit you to board.

The following customers may not be permitted to board:

  • Customers with health concerns
  • Customers with major injuries
  • Customers who have had major surgery
  • Category 1, Category 2, Category 3 infectious diseases and those who are within the suspension period stipulated by the School Health and Safety Act in Japan, and those who have been suspected.

The cabin environment

The cabin environment at an altitude is different from that on the ground, so pressure change caused by changing flight altitude and climate states may sometimes adversely affect passenger’s medical condition.
Airplanes fly an altitude of 9,000~12,000M (30,000 to 40,000 feet), and aircraft cabin pressure get lower to 0.7-0.8 bars, which equals to the altitude of 2000-2500 meters (approximately same as Mt. Fuji's fifth station).
Because of this, normal internal gases present in the human body expand. These expanded gases not discharged from the body may put pressure on wounds or internal organs possibly cause pain or breathing difficulties. Expanded gases not discharged from the body may put pressure on wounds or internal organs possibly cause pain or breathing difficulties.
The cabin pressure drops oxygen density to 70-80% of that at sea level and respiratory organs, the heart, blood vessels in the brain and serious anemia can all be adversely affected by low oxygen concentrations.
Moreover, low oxygen concentrations may also affect women in late stages of pregnancy and newborn babies.
